Galaxy Macau Curates a Culinary Showcase at the 2026 International Cities of Gastronomy Fest Macao

The luxury resort showcases its wide-ranging culinary expertise at a variety of unique events, including presenting Macau’s first UNESCO Young Chef Programme participant, paying homage to Macau’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy

(Macau SAR, March 30, 2026) Galaxy Macau reaffirmed its role as a leading culinary ambassador this month with its return to the International Cities of Gastronomy Fest Macao, held from March 20–29, 2026, under the leadership of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), where the award‑winning integrated resort showcased its culinary artistry crossing cultural, innovative and sensory boundaries. At this landmark event, the award‑winning Galaxy Macau team brought masterful culinary skills and artisanal dedication to present an immersive celebration of Macau’s deep‑rooted and diverse food culture to a global audience.

Global Cuisines Converge with Galaxy Macau in the Spotlight
One of the festival’s highlights was the International Gastronomy Promenade, which brought together 22 UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy from across China and around the world for a one-of-a-kind celebration of food and culture. Galaxy Macau’s food stand makes a stunning debut, inspired by "The Gilded Jungle" design of the new Botanica restaurant at Capella at Galaxy Macau. Showcasing exquisite creations from contemporary global bistro Botanica and Galaxy Macau's signature over-sized handmade prawn cracker snack. Galaxy Macau’s stand drew a constant stream of visitors, who lined up to sample delicious treats.

Galaxy Macau Champions Sustainable Gastronomy
In addition to supporting the Macao SAR Government in strengthening the city’s positioning as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, Galaxy Macau demonstrated the depth and breadth of its culinary excellence during the festival, while also reaffirming its long‑standing commitment to nurturing emerging talent and advancing culinary sustainability. This dedication was exemplified by the selection of young local chef Daniel Chio to participate in the United Nations Young Chefs Programme (YCP), marking a proud milestone for both the chef and Galaxy Resort.

A special culinary collaboration was presented under the Young Chefs Programme, where Galaxy Macau’s rising culinary talent Chef Daniel Chio joined forces with participants to co‑create a one‑of‑a‑kind dish that comprised ingredients for a local farm, exemplifying creativity, cultural exchange and a shared commitment to culinary sustainability.

Chef Chio shared his expertise at the International Gastronomy Forum, Macao, held on March 23. Hosted in partnership with the South China Morning Post, the forum brought together thought leaders from the culinary, academic, policy and creative sectors to examine cross‑disciplinary collaboration and gastronomy’s pivotal role in shaping creative cities, under the theme “Creative Fusion: Reimagining Gastronomy Beyond the Plate.”

During the session titled “Tradition to Innovation: Cultivating the Future of Culinary Leadership,” Chef Chio offered industry insights alongside fellow panellists including Dr Yen Nee Ng, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Culinary Arts Management Programme at the Macao University of Tourism; Flora Igoe, Head of Youth Culture and Food Heritage Programme in the Office of Youth and Women at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations; and fellow YCP 2026 participants, contributing to a forward‑looking dialogue on the evolution of culinary leadership.

The rising culinary talent from Galaxy Macau was also invited to participate in an off‑site showcase co-organised by Galaxy Macau in collaboration with the Cheng Tou Centre of local NGO Fuhong Society of Macau on March 26, where Chef Daniel Chio joined Chef Anderson Camilo Romero Cadena from Popayán, Colombia, and Chef Justin Je of Raffles at Galaxy Macau. Young Chef Justin Je hails as Galaxy Macau’s Gastronomy Ambassador, and has previously represented Macau at a culinary exchange in Songkhla, Thailand; known for his ability to seamlessly blend Macau influences with Portuguese culinary inspiration.

Together, the chefs engaged in a meaningful exchange on how culinary professionals can contribute to advancing the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, underscoring the role of gastronomy as a catalyst for social and environmental progress. As part of the programme, the three chefs highlighted how sustainable ingredients can be both versatile and delicious by cooking a variety of dishes in front of attendees. The activity attracted 30 participants, with members of the Association taking part in the demonstration as assistant chefs, embodying the spirit of inclusivity. The recipes were shared with the Association and would later be incorporated into the menu of the Association’s restaurant, allowing members to apply what they have learnt in practice, further develop their skills, and support their integration into the community.

Accentuating the Charms of Macau Galaxy Macau played a prominent role in the City of Gastronomy Showcase, which brought together 25 celebrated chefs from UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy for a programme comprising 53 live cooking demonstrations and knowledge‑sharing sessions. Among the distinguished line‑up was award‑winning Thai chef Jan Ruangnukulkit of Michelin Selected restaurant Saffron at Galaxy Macau, who captivated audiences with her exquisite Khanom Buang Laab Abalone (Crispy Thai Crepes with Abalone), celebrating the rich diversity of global food cultures.

Galaxy Macau further elevated the festival through the Beverage Craftsmanship Showcase, where its award‑winning Tea Ambassador Crystal Lu delivered an engaging 45‑minute demonstration. Her presentation highlighted the meticulous craftsmanship, attention to detail and cultural sensitivity that underpin the resort’s exceptional food and beverage programme, while reinforcing Galaxy Macau’s ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting Macau’s distinctive culinary heritage.

Galaxy Macau’s dining landscape—comprising more than 120 dining options from award- winning restaurants to acclaimed bars under one roof and distinguished by a constellation of international accolades—continues to define the luxury resort as one of the region’s most compelling destinations for refined and diverse quality gastronomy.
